In 2003, he walked out of a homeless shelter and built an Inc. 5000 company with over $20,000,000 in sales in just 60 months. In 2009, his company was selected as one of Inc. Magazines Fastest Growing Private Companies in America.

Gary Elekes is serial entrepreneur with a passion for helping others become more successful by sharing what he has learned during his 20+ years working closely with all facets of the contracting industry. During his career, Gary has held senior management positions at Lennox and Service Experts. In 2000, Gary moved into entrepreneurship and started his training and consulting business EPC. Today, EPC continues to support growth oriented businesses aspiring to reach 20% EBIT. He also designed the very first web based learning platform for the residential contracting industry, which acts as a support system for training and learning in HVAC and plumbing trades, and has over 5,000 subscribers.
In 2003, Gary began acquiring contracting firms with a focus on developing turn-around opportunities. He also opened and operated several start-up businesses. In 2010, he added web design/SEO and online marketing to his company portfolio starting Imarket Solutions as a co-founder. Gary graduated from Ohio State University with a BSBA and also holds a Master’s Degree in Business and Finance.
Steven Shallenberger understands the contractor world. He founded Synergy Companies in 1981, a successful energy services contractor, with offices throughout the State of California and is on the National Association of Energy Service Companies Board of Directors.
He has more than 40 years of experience as a successful business owner, trusted senior executive, professional corporate trainer, and best-selling author. He is the founder and president of Becoming Your Best Global Leadership. Steve and his team provide award winning training and keynotes helping teams and leaders tackle some of their greatest leadership challenges around the world. As a young entrepreneur, Steve successfully built numerous organizations from the ground up. During those years, he continued his education at the Harvard Business School. Steve was also a trusted advisor for Stephen R. Covey. Steve was a key leader in Covey’s organization who helped build the world-renowned Covey Leadership Center. He led a stalwart team and was responsible for the development and distribution of the original Covey planner.
Rob is the CEO and Senior Consultant for Becoming Your Best Global Leadership LLC. Rob served as an officer and fighter pilot in the United States Air Force for over 11 years. He was selected as one of a handful of United States Air Force representatives to handle the movement of Air Force One. He handled the delicate coordination between local officials, the United States Secret Service, Embassies, White House Staff, and Foreign Governments.
Since leaving the Air Force, Rob has become a top-rated speaker. He has delivered keynotes and led workshops for Fortune 500 companies around the world. Mark Matteson is an international speaker and best-selling author of 15 books. He has been called “The Oracle of Optimism”, “A Superlative Street Scholar”, “An Intense Idea-Reporter”. Mark travels 250 days a year around the globe delivering 75 “Edu-Training” Keynotes, Seminars, Panel Discussions and Workshops a year. Elaina Burdick is the President of EB&L Marketing, a full-service HVAC marketing firm. Elaina grew up around HVAC and recognized that residential contractors – with their limited time and marketing training – needed help promoting their companies. This led her to open a marketing company that is 100% focused on HVAC. For more than 25 years, she has worked with manufacturers, distributors and local contractors to effectively market their businesses and grow their bottom line, by building their brand and avoiding common marketing missteps. EB&L provides marketing solutions for 1-man start-ups as well as large, multi-vehicle dealerships. But by far, educating contractors on appropriate ways to promote their companies is the part of her job she enjoys the most.
Drew Cameron is president of both HVAC Sellutions and Energy Design Systems, Inc. and has 38 years of experience in all facets of running a residential contracting business. He and his team work with contractors to implement effective lead generating marketing and build multi-million dollar profit-generating home services sales forces. Drew is a founder of the Contractors Consultants of America (CCA), a founding member of the Contractor Advisory Group (CAG), a member of Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) board member, Efficiency First board member, as well as a Consult & Coach Partner and Preferred Vendor Partner with Service Roundtable. Drew is a Tom McCart International Consultant of the Year Award Winner.
Ellen nearly sank her husband’s plumbing company after his partner died unexpectedly. Boy was she humbled! It seemed like lots of money was moving through the company, but at the end of the month there was never any money left. In desperation, Ellen figured out how to make lots money and turned the business around. She inspires thousands, in workshops, presentations and online, to make business un-complicated and live life un-leashed.
Ellen is also a successful franchisor, helping launch a plumbing franchise to 47 locations and $40 million in sales in under 2 years. Now, she is the president of Zoom Drain and Sewer, LLC. Steve Mores is Vice President of Residential Sales for Dynamic Air Quality Solutions, a position he started in October of 2009. In 1989 he founded Premier Environmental Technologies, a company that was instrumental in bringing new technology IAQ products to consumers through the HVAC industry. Under his direction and leadership, this company grew quickly into the largest independent distributor of IAQ products in the Midwestern states. For eight years prior to joining Dynamic AQS, Steve was a VP then divisional President at Clockwork Home Services and was instrumental in starting their Indoor Air Quality private label product lines and IAQ training program. Steve was on the design team that brought some of the first marketable ultraviolet energy systems to the residential HVAC industry. He continues to research and assist in designing IAQ product solutions for residential applications. As a professional IAQ product and communication trainer, consultant and professional speaker, he has helped hundreds of contractors enhance their success through sustainable business practices in accessary sales, IAQ technical and communication training.
As VP of Residential Sales for Dynamic AQS, Steve is responsible for training, motivating and managing the US national and Canadian sales/training teams. His duties also include business development for direct to contractor private label programs.
Brigham Dickinson is president and founder of Power Selling Pros, a leading coaching and training firm dedicated to teaching businesses to wow more customers. Brigham started Power Selling Pros when he saw that call handlers needed assistance consistently converting calls to bookings. As a result, Brigham answered the need by creating the Pattern For Excellence, a sequence of principles that guides call handlers through all stages of a call, from greeting to closure. Since 2009, Power Selling Pros’ growth comes through referrals alone, thanks to the proven call-handling process and their high level of customer satisfaction.
As General Manager of EGIA’s Contractor Marketplace and Consulting Services, Mike is responsible for developing and executing EGIA’s enhanced member benefit and training offerings. Mike focuses on delivering exceptional training options to EGIA Members along with building relationships with vendor partners to help EGIA members reduce their overall costs of doing business. Mike has been the owner of, and consultant to, HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical contracting businesses for over 25 years, was the President of one of the industry’s first HVAC training affinity groups and led the development of the first Vendor Rebate programs in the industry. Mike has a undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Accounting from Utah State University, is a CPA and has an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
JC currently serves as EGIA’S General Manager of Strategic Markets, predominantly focusing on fast-growth channels and verticals in the energy marketplace. He has a strong track record of building and leading organizations through times of fast growth, and driving results for companies across various industries, most recently of which are solar.
After completing his undergraduate degree in Finance at the University of Texas, Mr. Shore spent five years in management consulting, working for Accenture and later, Ernst & Young. He then joined an enterprise software company Amdocs (NYSE: DOX) as a sales director, closing just under $1B in sales during his first 3 years. JC then returned to his consulting roots as West Coast Managing Partner for BusinessEdge Solutions, a boutique consulting firm later acquired by EMC (NYSE:EMC).
He later moved with his family to Austin Texas and shortly thereafter, founded a solar design and installation company (Circular Energy) and co-founded and energy management software company (CURB) as a subsidiary to the solar company. Circular Energy recorded triple digit growth for four of its first five years and was ranked as the 3rd fastest growing company in Central Texas from 2010-2012. Both companies were later acquired by ProPower, and LSE based in Ft. Worth, TX. Since then and prior to joining EGIA, JC engaged in a handful of consulting projects and additionally served as the VP of Sales for Soligent, one of the largest solar distributors.
Eric is the Vice President of Contractor Services at EGIA and is the primary point person for ensuring EGIA is delivering the programs and tools member contractors need to grow their business and become more profitable. Eric is also the architect of EGIA’s GEOSmart Financing Clearinghouse which has facilitated the financing of over 200,000 residential and business projects valued in excess of $1.7 billion.
Recognized as one of the preeminent thought leaders for consumer financing programs within the contracting industry, Eric routinely speaks at many of the major contractor events throughout the country and works closely with several of the largest equipment manufacturers and distributors to introduce financing programs and best practices to their dealer networks. With nearly two decades of experience training contractors on how to successfully integrate financing into their sales process, Eric also consults with many of the leading financial institutions to help them tailor their programs to better meet the needs of contractors nationwide.
James R. Leichter
James is a successful entrepreneur and master mechanic whose accomplishments include being the founder of MrHVAC.com, the CEO and founder of Aptora, the President of RA Tax and Accounting and a partner with ProAmerican Investments.
James’ company MrHVAC.com is a website dedicated to improving the lives of contractors. It includes industry articles, specialized HVAC calculators, forms, templates and one of the most extensive operations manuals in the country. As the founder of Aptora corporation, he has created some of the most popular software programs in the service industry including Flat Rate Plus and Total Office Manager.
James is well known for his burning passion to help contractors and it shows in his unique speaking style. He has hosted management workshops all around the United States and has conducted onsite consulting since 1996 with hundreds of contractors.
Mike brings experience in the contracting industry as a sales manager and comfort advisor for one of the largest and well respected residential heating and air conditioning contractors in the United States. He has personally worked with over 150 contracting companies across North America conducting training and consulting in the areas of sales, sales management, business management, customer service and technician lead generation training. His background consists of 35 years in sales and sales management bringing expertise, knowledge, techniques and strategies proven in the contracting industry to increase sales.
Mike’s diverse background includes movies and entertainment, public speaking, fitness and over 20 years in HVAC. As a talent agent in Hollywood, Mike had actors on television, commercials and movies. Running his own company, Mike lead his team to become the largest aerobic certification agency in the United States with a nationally recognized fitness magazine that was the first national publication specifically for the aerobic fitness community. With six motion picture credits to his name, Mike also brings film management and production to the table. What does that mean to you? It simply means that Mike knows how to entertain each and every audience plus organize training and consulting programs so you get what you pay for and walk away with the value you expect from such a performer.
Gary Oetker has over 45 years of experience in the HVAC and plumbing industries. His mission is to help contractors Execute Profitable Solutions (EPS). Much of his career was spent with a major HVAC manufacturer where he held positions in training, marketing, dealer development, dealer consulting and sales. Upon retiring in 2004, Gary wrote for an HVAC internet support site, continues to conduct training and consults with individual contractors. His particular expertise is financial management and in operations. He excels at relating financial statements to operating practices and finding ways to improve financial performance. He has taught hundreds of seminars on subjects ranging from financial management, service department management, business planning, pricing, and process improvement. He has also spent many years conducting detailed Business Reviews with contractors to help them improve financial performance.
Russ Horrocks emerged as one of the most successful Comfort Advisors in America in the mid-90’s. Russ quickly took to sharing his unique knowledge of buyer psychology with sales forces across the country. He turned his profession into a passion, educating and coaching in-home sales and service advisors to understand the critical skills necessary to achieve results far exceeding personal mindset limitations and corporate expectations.
Most trainers preach about product and process. Russ teaches and coaches his sales and service protégés not only about what to do in the home and how to do to it, but more importantly, why.
